I just wanted to say that I ejoyed the article on wireless security, especially the inclusion of smart phones/PDAs.
The article alerted me to new best practices and I will use them on the wireless network for the school where I work and for my consulting clients. Have a great day!

I agree, great article. But can anyone recommend what VPN software they would use for a laptops connecting to a public hotspot that's unsecured? What about disk protection software too; Garen mentioned TrueCrypt and PGP I think. Somehow I don't think Norton NIS 2009 and windows firewall will cut it. I may be wrong, which is why I'm reading articles on this site, but I manage a public library and am trying to brush up on how to secure wireless devices and such that staff or public users may come into the library to use our public wi-fi. I've tried Seamless' SIB but haven't seen any reviews on its effectiveness.
