While I appreciate the political and social concerns you raise, the reality is that the technologies discussed are far away way from having a practical impact. Indeed, as I have argued on my site, intelligent video is still struggling with the basics. While I do not doubt that eventually the technology will get reliable and cheap enough for mainstream use, most experts estimate this to be 10 or 20 years from now. Indeed, one of the bigger new trends in the security industry is to encourage even lower expectations of video analytic performance because of all the performance problems.

Thanks for your insights. I'll be the first to admit that I'm no expert in this type of technology, so I can't predict when these types of systems will reach the point of feasibility. However, it does seem to me that given the proliferation of CCTVs and advances in predictive technology that this will be the logical next step.
